It’s soon Valentine’s & what better way to celebrate than learning to fall in love with yourself!
Fashion + Self-Love Party, Day 1.
Guest post by Lena from Lena Dee XO.
A Candid Hello
Hey there you beautiful dolls! It’s your friendly internet pixie Lena, blogger from Lena Dee XO (that’s right I’m pretty much invisible but I leave trails of sparkle and fun everywhere I go tehe!)…I’ll be your host for today and I’m totes ready to kick-start this fabulous Fashion Self Love Party! In case you missed it, this is a blog party dedicated to promoting self-love through various aspects of the fashion industry. We’ve worked pretty hard, especially Alissa the amazing gal who owns this site and made this all possible…So please stay for our many surprises and bursts of positivity.
Let’s Get This Self Love Train Moving!
Let’s jump right into it, shall we! I want to help you channel your inner goddess/god. Valentine’s is fast approaching and more than often we’re caught up on having a love life with someone else. However, did you know you could have a love affair with yourself? That you could be staring into thin air and start smiling because you’re happy with yourself? I bet you sometimes forget it’s okay to be madly in love with yourself and the person you’re becoming. Well…if you have forgotten, I’m here to remind you NOW is the time to embrace yourself!
I know, I know, look at that gorgeous Insta babe that has 30 bazillion likes on one pic whilst yours was merely double-tapped a handful of times. It’s not easy seeing those kinds of results without making a comparison. Social media, though not what it’s created for, can easily take a jab at our self-confidence. That right there, is one of the biggest problems! yikes But it doesn’t have to be! There’s so much diversity around that beauty should have no standards. The only person you should want to look like is yourself.
Often enough so many brands (even ones we couldn’t help but love because of their products) were major players in promoting standards that crushed our self-worth. Luckily, the industry has been moving forward and taking gracious steps at being inclusive and speaking out against body shaming and beauty standards. I think that says a lot on the importance of this matter.Â
This chat is getting mad real but we need to experience a bit of discomfort in order to wholeheartedly welcome happiness!
Below is an example of how the brand Missguided is boldly striving to speak out against body-shaming:

Now we’ve acknowledged the problem here’s what you’re going to do, not for me, but for yourself. It’s T-13 days until the big LOVE date and I want you to set a date aside before then to take yourself out on a date.
That’s right, you heard me, you are going to T-R-E-A-T yourself like the gorgeous doll that you are.
I want this date to last at least 4-5 hours where you simply bask in your amazing attributes. How can you expect to fall in love with yourself if you can’t spend time to appreciate yourself? No, you will not look lame, but if that’s what you’re afraid of go somewhere quiet. Just do something you will enjoy and look damn great doing it!Â
You’re going to bring out all of your faves: the makeup, the jewelry, your fave outfit that makes you feel empowered…EVERYTHING. You’re going to take your time and get ready like it’s the dream date you’ve always wanted. While you’re dressing and looking in the mirror, I want you to do some affirmations and recite, “I am beautiful, I am worthy of my love & I am proud to be me!” Recite it as many times as you need to believe it, whether you get emotional or not, say it til you feel it straight from your eyelashes down to your toenails.
When you’ve felt it, I want you to take a deep breath in and let those words really sink because it’s only in that moment you’ll realize you’ve broken a barrier and moving closer towards self-love. I’m not saying in one day your journey to self-love will be accomplished (because life is full of ups and downs). What I’m saying is, if you can see YOUR beauty, what’s stopping the rest of the world.
Okay guys, that’s it for today’s power charge! I know it was a bit lengthy but I hope you took away something from this post and enjoyed the first dose of this Fashion Self Love Party! I’m Lena and thank you oh so much for tuning in! Don’t forget to subscribe & you can follow me on Twitter or Pinterest if you fancy 🙂
Toodles for now my darlings!

What will you plan for your date with yourself?
Tell us in the comments!
This post is lovely!
Affirmations have made a big difference in my attitude this year, especially toward myself. But when we feel good about ourselves it’s easier to stop judging and be nicer to those around us as well. Thanks for the encouraging post!
This post was so motivational and definitely what I needed after a day of feeling a bit self conscious! xxx
This is such a great idea – I love it! It is a shame that the whole social media and brands promoting this perfect image that we are apparently meant to look like – they could do so much good with it like some are starting too now.

Such a great guest post, I love the message behind this post too. It’s so easy to feel deflated when perfection is everywhere but it’s so important to look after yourself! x

Oh I am all over this self love movement!! It’s so difficult to love yourself these days and I think there is even shame around it sometimes, but why can’t we love ourselves and be proud of it?! I also love that you say you leave trails of glitter wherever you go, I’m the same but it’s usually biscuit crumbs instead! Beautiful post, need more of this!
